What is the wisdom behind the Prophet's — may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him — seeking refuge from drowning, even though one who drowns is a martyr?

The reason for seeking refuge from drowning, despite it being a cause of martyrdom, is that death by it comes suddenly, and a person might not be prepared for repentance or for fulfilling their bequests and obligations. One will be questioned about the rights of people even if they are a martyr, as it has been reported that a martyr is forgiven for every sin except debt. Furthermore, sudden death grieves the family of the deceased more deeply. Therefore, it is legislated to seek refuge from sudden death like drowning. It has been authentically reported that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to seek refuge from burning, from being crushed, from drowning, from being afflicted by Satan at the time of death, from dying while turning his back in the path of Allah, and from dying from a poisonous sting.
