Is removing a harmful object from the road an obligation (fard) or a Sunnah, with mention of the evidence?

Removing harm from the road is a commendable Sunnah, and it may become obligatory in certain situations, such as the presence of a well in the middle of the road where there is a fear of a blind person or a child falling into it. Prophetic hadiths have indicated its commendability, including considering it one of the branches of faith and that it is a charity. Its non-obligation is due to the lack of evidence for its obligation, and no scholar has ruled it obligatory.
