What is the ruling on listening to music at work, and did any of the Companions permit singing, and what is the way to stop listening to music while reading and memorizing the Qur’an?

It has been previously explained that listening to songs accompanied by musical instruments is forbidden, citing evidence from the Qur’an, Sunnah, and the sayings of the Companions. No Companion was known to permit musical instruments; rather, the consensus of scholars on their prohibition has been transmitted, including Al-Qurtubi, Ibn Al-Salah, Ibn Rajab, and Ibn Hajar Al-Haytami. The questioner should repent to Allah for listening to these songs. The Holy Qur’an and permissible Islamic anasheed are sufficient as an alternative.
