Will I receive the reward for the hadith, "Whoever washes and bathes, and comes early and is early… and does not ride," if I go early and bathed to the Haram riding to perform Jumu'ah? And if the reward for riding is not written for me, will I receive the reward for walking from the parking lot to the Haram? And will I receive the reward of a year's worth of Qiyam (night prayer) and Sawm (fasting) by walking from the parking lot to the Haram?

The Hadith of Aws ibn Aws al-Thaqafi from the Prophet (peace be upon him) included the immense reward for one who performed ghusl and bathed on Friday, went early and was early, walked and did not ride, and drew near to the Imam and listened without engaging in idle talk; for every step he took, he would receive the reward of a year's worth of fasting and prayer.

Scholars have differed on the meaning of "walked and did not ride." Some see it as an affirmation of "walked," while others believe it is a negation of riding altogether, emphasizing the completion of the entire distance on foot.

The most sound opinion is that the phrase "walked and did not ride" means walking the entire way without riding.

So, whoever rides to the Friday prayer will not attain this immense reward, but he is still upon good; due to his early arrival and his attaining the reward for initiating good deeds, as stated in other Ahadith.

Those excused, such as the sick or those for whom walking is difficult due to a long distance, are exempted from this, and it is hoped that they will still receive the reward.
