Which is better for going to the mosque on Fridays and for the five daily prayers: walking or riding? What is the ruling on the reward associated with that, and does the reward of elevating a step and absolving a misdeed apply to the rider as it does to the walker?

It is preferable to walk to congregational prayers, whether they are obligatory or supererogatory, due to the immense virtue reported therein. For every step taken by Muslims, there is the reward of fasting a year and performing night prayers during it. This virtue applies to walking for all acts of worship, and the reward continues from the home to the prayer area. However, there is no sin upon one who is unable to walk to ride, and it is hoped that they will also receive the reward. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, affirmed the eagerness of one of the Companions to walk to the mosque out of desire for the reward.
