"Specifying a night for praying the two rak'ahs mentioned is an innovation because this is not authentically reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) nor from any of his companions or scholars. The best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and the worst of matters are newly invented ones, and every newly invented matter is an innovation, and every innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Fire. As for reviving the nights of the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, many scholars have deemed it desirable, and they have cited as evidence what al-Bukhari narrated from Ibn Abbas, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ""There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these days."" And His saying, may He be exalted: {By the dawn And [by] ten nights}.
