What constitutes disbelief through mocking religion, and does its perpetrator exit the fold of Islam?

The disbelief (kufr) mentioned in Surah At-Tawbah (verses 65-66) is the major disbelief (al-kufr al-akbar) that expels one from the fold of Islam. This is because mocking Allah, His verses, and His Messenger contradicts the very foundation of the religion, which is built upon the glorification of Allah, His religion, and His messengers. Jurists have unanimously agreed that belittling Allah through word, deed, or belief is forbidden (haram), and its perpetrator becomes an apostate from Islam, whether he was joking or serious. The same applies to belittling prophets, angels, heavenly books, and Islamic rulings.
