What is the ruling on violating the sanctity of the Holy Quran by distorting verse 109 of Surat Al-Kahf: (Say: "If the sea were ink for [writing] the words of my Lord, the sea would be exhausted before the words of my Lord were exhausted, even if We brought the like of it as a supplement") to: "If the sea were ink for [writing] the words of my beloved, the sea would be exhausted before the words of my beloved were exhausted"?

Distorting the words of Allah Almighty is an act of disbelief (kufr) that expels one from the fold of Islam, due to the manipulation and disrespect it entails towards the Book of Allah, and for likening the lowly creation to Allah the Magnificent. So, whoever shows contempt for the Quran or likens Allah to His creation has committed disbelief. It is obligatory to denounce this message, warn against it, and disavow its perpetrator.
