There is no authentic evidence from the Sunnah for the recommendation of reciting Surat Al-Fatihah and the opening verses of Surat Al-Baqarah in the morning and evening. There are weak orوقف (mawquf) narrations from Ibn Mas'ud regarding the virtue of reciting specific verses from Surat Al-Baqarah, but they do not stipulate restriction to morning and evening, or they are restricted to bedtime. Among the Qur'anic verses that are Sunnah to recite in the morning and evening are: Al-Mu'awwidhat (the three Quls), as it is authentically reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that they suffice against everything.
