What is the ruling on placing the Mushaf upon some furnishings, some of which are ritually impure, and we do not know which specific ones? And what is the ruling in that case if there is a barrier? And what is the ruling if the book is other than the Mushaf but contains the name of Allah? And what is the ruling if the furnishings are not impure but have been spattered with saliva due to sneezing?

The Qur'an must be revered and protected. It is not permissible to place it on an impure bed. If its state is uncertain, then investigation is obligatory. As long as its impurity is not clear, it is pure, and it is permissible to place the Qur'an upon it. Placing a barrier between the Qur'an and a place whose impurity is suspected is closer to exalting the symbols of Allah. Everything that contains the mention of Allah must be respected, and it is not permissible to place it on an impure place except with a barrier. Saliva is pure, but the Qur'an should not be placed on a spot containing saliva out of reverence for the Qur'an. It is forbidden to touch the Qur'an with anything that defiles it, even if it is ritually pure.
