Is there a reward for tasbeeh in rukoo' and sujood that is independent of the reward for the prayer itself?

Everything a worshipper does from the Sunnah earns them a special reward, and this is a reason for the varying ranks of people. Glorifying Allah (Tasbih) in bowing (ruku') and prostration (sujud) is a Sunnah according to the majority of jurists, and there is a reward for performing it. It is recommended to say "Subhan Allah" or "Subhan Rabbi" when bowing. The minimum complete form is to say "Subhan Rabbi Al-Azeem" three times, and less than that is permissible, but it is better to increase it to eleven times. The most perfect form is to say, "Allahumma rak'atu..." (O Allah, I have bowed...) to the end of the hadith of Ali (may Allah be pleased with him).
