Is it permissible for a Muslim to be named "Moon of the Prophets"?
It is disliked to be named with names that are attributed to prophets or the Messenger, such as "Qamar al-Anbiya" (Moon of the Prophets), because they involve commendation, falsehood, and deception, based on the of changing the name "Barrah" to "Zaynab", and due to his (peace be upon him) saying: "The most hated name to Allah is that of a man who called himself Malik al-Amlak (King of Kings)."
Other names are also disliked or forbidden, including: 1. Names that imply servitude to other than Allah, such as "Abd al-Rasul" (Servant of the Messenger). 2. Names that are exclusive to Allah the Almighty, such as "Al-Rahman" (The Most Merciful). 3. Names with a blameworthy meaning, such as "Harb" (War). 4. Names that have no meaning, such as "Zouzou". 5. Names that involve self-commendation, such as "Barrah" (Pious).
