The question

What should one do if they have obtained free life insurance from the bank – and they do not want it because it is forbidden – knowing that their use of the bank card keeps the insurance active, and that stopping the use of the card for 3 months automatically cancels it?

The answer

It is not permissible to open an account in a usurious bank if that entails taking usurious interest. It is safer not to open one at all, unless there is a compelling need. It is permissible to use a debit card. As for credit cards, they are not permissible unless they are free from Sharia prohibitions. Commercial insurance is forbidden in all its forms. If the bank gives you life insurance without your request, you must refuse and return it, because gifts on loans are forbidden.
