What is the ruling on the exchange of electronic messages between women and men, and must a woman inform her guardian of the content of these messages?

It is permissible for a man to speak to a woman and for her to speak to him when there is a need and no fear of temptation, provided there is no soft speech. This is based on the Almighty's saying: (O wives of the Prophet, you are not like any other women. If you fear Allah, then do not be soft in speech [to men], lest he in whose heart is disease should covet, but speak with appropriate speech) [Al-Ahzab: 32]. This ruling applies to all women.

As for the exchange of electronic messages between the sexes, it is prohibited because it leads to temptation and attachment of the heart. Preventing harm takes precedence over achieving benefit, and a woman can obtain the knowledge and information she needs through other means. The guardian of a girl must prevent her from corresponding with men.
