Is it permissible to offer a sacrifice of gratitude to Allah upon purchasing a car or a house?

Allah bestows great blessings upon people, and He must be thanked for these blessings through acts of worship, obedience, and devotion to Him. This is done by sacrificing an animal, feeding people, and giving charity to the needy, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) did. Among the ways to thank Allah is to hold banquets and invitations when blessings are renewed, such as the success of children or acquiring a new home. One must be cautious about sacrificing an animal on the doorstep of a house with the belief of warding off the evil eye or bringing blessings; this is a pre-Islamic (Jahili) belief and an act of shirk (definition) if the intention is to appease jinn. However, if the intention is to honor neighbors and relatives and to thank Allah, then it is a good deed.
