Is a gift given to a female Quran teacher in the mosque considered a bribe if it is solely for teaching, without requesting a certificate or grades, and is offered out of respect and appreciation, even if the teacher is hesitant to accept it?

It is forbidden for a Quran teacher to accept a gift from students if he teaches a group and grants them certificates and grades, because that leads to inclination of the heart and favoritism. However, if the student has completed her studies and left the school, or if there is no competition among the students, such as teaching a single student individually, then there is a difference of opinion among scholars regarding accepting the gift. Some have prohibited it, citing the Hadith (definition) of Al-Qaws, which implies the prohibition of gifts for a teacher. Others have permitted it if it is given willingly, citing the permissibility of taking wages for teaching the Quran. The preferred situation is not to accept the gift, due to what it may cause in terms of inclination of the self and favoritism, whether the person is aware of it or not.
