The answer

The nurse must take specific measures to wake up for the Friday prayer. If he does so but is unable to wake up, then there is no sin upon him, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There is no negligence in sleep; rather, negligence is while awake, by delaying a prayer until the time for another prayer enters." This ruling applies to the nurse and others, whether one sleeps before or after the time [of prayer] enters, provided that he intended to wake up and took the necessary measures. However, if the time for Friday prayer has begun, then among the excuses that permit missing it is overwhelming and severe drowsiness, where one fears missing the prayer entirely or missing it with the Imam, as some jurists mentioned, and which Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen supported.
