What is our belief regarding what God has permitted and forbidden, and what He has enjoined and prohibited? Are God’s شرعية (Shar'i) rulings always or sometimes better for our religious and worldly interests? Are forbidden things always detrimental to our worldly and otherworldly interests, or only to our otherworldly interests? Do the rulings on acts of worship differ from those on transactions in achieving religious and worldly interests?

Islamic law surpasses all other divine and intellectual laws. Its foundation lies in wisdom and in serving the interests of people in their worldly life and in the Hereafter. It is entirely justice, mercy, benefits, and wisdom. Any matter that deviates from these foundations is not part of it, even if it is introduced into it through interpretation. It is Allah's justice, mercy, light, guidance, healing, and the Straight Path. Through it come the coolness of eyes, the life of hearts, and the delight of souls. All good in existence is derived from it, and every deficiency is due to its neglect. It is the pillar of the world and the axis of success and happiness in this world and the Hereafter. There is no difference in this regard between acts of worship and transactions; all of them were legislated for the religious and worldly interests of humanity. Some may grasp their wisdom, while others may fail to do so. And Allah does not forbid anything except for a wisdom and because it entails harms, which humans may or may not be able to comprehend.
