Is it better to donate the entire amount at once, or to distribute it over several days to obtain the full and multiplied reward of charity?
Charity is multiplied and magnified in several situations, including: if it is secret, if the poor person's need is great, if one hastens to give it before death, if it is given to a relative, especially one with whom ties of kinship have been severed, if one gives it while in need and prioritizes others with it, as long as it does not harm those one supports, if it is given in virtuous times and places, if its impact is great on the general Muslim community, such as spending in the way of Allah and providing water, if both spouses spend from the same type of wealth, if it is combined with fasting, attending a funeral, and visiting the sick, if it is given by a pious scholar, if it is beloved to its giver, spending on one's family, and giving charity as specified by the Lawgiver in its proper place and time, such as the udhiyah (sacrificial animal), and if it is an ongoing charity (sadaqah jariyah). It is best to hasten in giving charity to receive the reward immediately and to be safe from death or from a change of resolve.
