What is the ruling on one who had intercourse with his wife during the daytime in Ramadan, and is unable to fast two consecutive months because this would affect his work and his health?

The hardship of work that causes a person to feel a decline in performance is not an excuse to permit breaking the fast in an obligatory fast, whether it is the Ramadan fast or an expiation for intercourse. The Permanent Committee for Issuing Fatwas has affirmed that it is not permissible for someone who works in a bakery and feels thirst and exhaustion to break his fast, and he must work according to his capacity. Sheikh Abd al-Rahman al-Barrak mentioned that work has no effect on abandoning an obligatory fast. Therefore, one should be patient, seek reward [from Allah], and seek Allah's help.
