What is your eminence's opinion on Sheikh Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani? And is he to be faulted for some people seeking blessings from his grave and worshipping him?

Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani is Abd al-Qadir ibn Musa ibn Abd Allah ibn Jangidost al-Hasani. He was born in 471 AH in Gilan and moved to Baghdad in 488 AH, where he excelled in preaching, jurisprudence, hadith, and literature. He became prominent in teaching and issuing fatwas, and he passed away in Baghdad in 561 AH. Among his most important works are "Al-Ghunya li Talib Tariq al-Haqq," "Al-Fath al-Rabbani," and "Futuh al-Ghayb." Ibn al-Athir described him as being Hanbali in madhhab and a righteous person. Ibn al-Sam'ani described him as the Imam of the Hanbalis and their shaykh in his era, a jurist, righteous, and pious. Ibn Rajab affirmed that he adhered to the Sunnah in matters of attributes (of Allah) and divine decree. As for what people do at his grave of shirk (polytheism) or what is attributed to him of innovations and superstitions, he is innocent of them. And Shaykh al-Islam clarified that these actions are shirk and that he did not command them.
