What is the ruling on one who repented from the abomination of sodomy while still inclining towards it?

You do not sin by inclining towards disobedience and desiring it, as long as you strive against yourself to refrain from it. Rather, you are rewarded for this struggle, which may transform you into someone who is accustomed to obedience and detests disobedience. Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote: "Indeed, those who desire disobedience but do not act upon it are those whose hearts Allah has tested for piety. For them is forgiveness and a great reward." Continue to strive against yourself and inform it of the ugliness of this act.
