What is the authenticity of what was narrated by Al-Tabarani — and similarly by Abd Al-Razzaq — regarding the description of Munkar and Nakir, that they have: "eyes like copper pots, fangs like ox horns, and voices like thunder," and that they: "dig with their fangs, tread on their hair, and carry with them a sledgehammer that, if all the people of my nation were to gather to lift it, they would not be able to"?

The validity of the aforementioned statement depends on the authenticity of the two hadiths. Al-Albani graded the hadith from Al-Tabarani describing the eyes, fangs, and terrifying voices of Munkar and Nakir as weak. As for the other hadith, which describes angels digging with their fangs, stepping on their hair, and carrying a mace, it is a Mursal hadith. A Mursal hadith is a category of weak hadith, and no scholar of hadith has authenticated it.
