Is it permissible for a widow undergoing iddah, whose husband died in Cairo and was buried in Sharqia, to spend her iddah in Sharqia after learning of his death in their Cairo home, especially since she used to visit her husband's home in Sharqia during Eids and holidays, and would she be sinful for visiting a sick person during her iddah?

It is not permissible to leave the house of mourning (for a widow observing iddah (definition)) except for a necessity. This includes not leaving to visit the husband's grave, or to visit a sick person, or for an Eid occasion. However, the woman observing iddah is permitted to go out during the day for her needs. She is not allowed to spend the night outside her home or go out at night, except out of necessity. There is no sin upon one who went out unaware of the prohibition.
