Is the scarcity of marriage proposals due to a sin or wrath from Allah, or does Allah save the best for later, and how can one achieve patience and trust in Allah?

No calamity descends but due to a sin, and none is removed but by repentance. A Muslim should always repent to Allah, for Allah is Generous and does not reject a supplicant. The delay in the answer to a supplication might be better for him. Therefore, one must surrender to Allah's decree and be patient, for "patience is the key to relief." If a suitable suitor proposes, he should not be rejected or the marriage delayed, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There are three things that should not be delayed: the prayer when its time comes, the funeral when it is ready, and the un-married woman when a suitable match is found for her." One should not exaggerate in seeking perfection. If a man of sound belief, who observes his obligatory duties, and is known for his good character proposes, then accept him, for the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If someone whose religion and character you are pleased with comes to you (to propose), then marry him."
