Is the widely circulated hadith about Umm Mildam, "O Allah, have mercy on my delicate skin and my fine bones from the intensity of the burning, O Umm Mildam, if you believe in Allah the Almighty, then do not split the head, and do not make the mouth foul, and do not drink blood, and turn away from me to one who has taken another god with Allah," authentic?

The supplication, "O Allah, O Lord of all praise..." has not been reported in any marfu‘ (attributed to the Prophet) or mawquf (attributed to a Companion) hadith. However, Ibn Abd al-Barr mentioned that Ibn Wahb narrated a marfu‘ hadith from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, concerning the description of ghusl (ritual washing) for fever: "Wash for three days before sunrise, each day saying: 'In the Name of Allah and by Allah, depart, O Umm Mildam.' And if it does not depart, then wash seven times."
