What is the ruling on one whose wife was far away from him and he committed the crime of adultery?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Adultery is one of the gravest sins, and its perpetrator has deficient faith, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The adulterer does not commit adultery while he is a believer." Allah the Almighty has forbidden approaching it and has prescribed a punishment for it in this world and a severe torment in the Hereafter. The punishment for an unmarried male or female adulterer is one hundred lashes. As for those who are married or have been previously married, their punishment is stoning to death. In the Hereafter, adulterers will be tormented in a furnace from which flames will come upon them from beneath. The absence of a wife is indeed a trial, but it does not justify falling into adultery. Whoever has committed this abomination must hasten to repent.
