Is it permissible for someone afflicted with homosexuality, who prays on time, memorizes the Qur’an, and seeks Allah’s forgiveness, not to go to the mosque for Friday prayers and other congregational prayers, due to psychological distress caused by the gazes and aversion of some people who have become aware of his situation?

We congratulate you on your repentance and pray for your steadfastness. We advise you to supplicate and ask Allah for well-being. Friday prayer is obligatory upon men by consensus, and merely feeling distressed does not permit one to miss it. As for congregational prayer, there is a difference of opinion regarding it, and the preponderant view is that it is obligatory. However, it is permissible to take the concession of those who hold it is not obligatory, to avoid hardship. You are encouraged to attend prayers with Muslims and to confront any mockery by reminding them that "the one who repents from a sin is like one who has no sin."
