There is no basis for the notion that the verse upon which one's eyes fall when opening the Mus'haf is a message from Allah. It is not permissible to seek omens from the Mus'haf, as this resembles the actions of the people of Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic ignorance) and their divining with arrows. Similarly, placing verses in a box and selecting a verse each morning falls into this category. Scholars like Al-Qarafi and Al-Turtushi have forbidden this, considering it a form of divination with arrows, which is prohibited by Sharia. The benefit of the Quran is found in its recitation, contemplation, and implementation.
