Is it recommended to repeat after the muezzin when he calls the iqamah for prayer, then to send blessings upon the Prophet (peace be upon him) and recite the supplication narrated after the adhan?

The majority of scholars are of the opinion that it is desirable to repeat after the mu'adhin during the iqamah, to invoke blessings upon the Prophet (peace be upon him), and then to supplicate with the supplications reported to be recited after the adhan. They base this on the argument that the iqamah is a second adhan, and thus the rulings pertaining to the adhan apply to it. This view differs from some of the Hanafis and Sheikh Ibn 'Uthaymeen, who hold that these practices are specific to the adhan only.
