At whose hands and during which era did the Maliki school of thought reach the Maghreb al-Aqsa (Farthest West)?

Imam Malik's madhhab reached the Far Maghrib in the second century Hijri. The most prominent figure in its dissemination was Yahya ibn Yahya al-Laythi, whom Imam Malik called "the wise man of Andalusia." Yahya refrained from holding the position of judge, but he would advise the emir on whom to appoint as judge in the cities of Andalusia. This led to a large number of his students and their embrace of Malik's jurisprudence. Furthermore, prominent scholars of the Maghrib who learned from Malik's companions also participated in spreading the madhhab, including Baqi ibn Makhlad, Asad ibn al-Furat, Sahnun, and Asbagh.
