Is it permissible for me to travel with my 68-year-old mother to complete my postgraduate studies in a foreign country, given the state's refusal to grant a visa to one of my siblings and the company's agreement to bear all responsibilities, or should I travel alone since the company will cover my needs, and is it permissible for a family member to accompany me for a period and then for me to complete the duration alone?

A woman is not permitted to travel except with a mahram, based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "It is not lawful for a woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day to travel a distance of one night unless she is accompanied by a man who is a mahram to her." The permissibility for a woman to travel without a mahram, but with a safe company, was limited to the obligatory Hajj. If a mahram accompanies you during the travel, then you are permitted to spend the remainder of the duration alone, provided that the place is safe.
