What is the ruling on banknotes that have the name of Allah or verses from the Quran or advertisements written on them? Is it permissible to spend them? What should be done about them? And will one who destroys them out of reverence for the name of Allah be compensated?

If using currency notes for purposes other than their value as money—such as engraving or writing on them—harms the paper currency or exposes it to damage, for example, by affecting its acceptance in ATMs or by transacting parties, and incurs losses for the state due to reprinting, then such actions are prohibited.
