How can one purify and nurture the soul and innate disposition (fitra) to avoid being drawn into sexual practices that contravene the Sharia, after being influenced by jahiliyyah and the ideas of the disbelievers?

Purification of the soul is among the most important matters. Allah the Almighty has promised success and entry into Paradise to whoever purifies his soul. Allah the Almighty says: "He has succeeded who purifies himself" (Al-A'la:14), and "Gardens of Eden beneath which rivers flow, abiding eternally therein. And that is the reward of whoever purifies himself" (Taha:76).

Purification of the soul is achieved by performing the commands and avoiding the prohibitions, and by seeking assistance in this through patience, prayer, frequent remembrance of Allah, and accompanying people of goodness and righteousness.
