Life is a house of trial, and a Muslim must be patient in hardship and make abundant supplication. Whatever Allah decrees for a Muslim is good for them, as Allah Almighty says: (But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not.) A Muslim should also maintain legal ruqyah (exorcism) and the morning and evening remembrances (adhkar).

Sins may be a cause of worry and sorrow. If you have committed a sin, repent to Allah. If it was an illicit relationship with a foreign man, then that is a sin requiring repentance.

Depression should not prevent one from acts of obedience, such as reciting the Quran and prayer, for obedience repels depression. Abandoning prayer is considered disbelief by many scholars.
