What is the meaning of the the repeated phrase "Indeed, God does not love" for different groups in the Qur'an, and does this mean that God only loves Muslims?
God created humans to worship Him alone, and He sent messengers and revealed books to guide them. Whoever obeys them achieves happiness, and whoever disobeys them deserves punishment. God Almighty does not equate the obedient with the disobedient, and He loves none but those who follow His messengers and adhere to His law, as He states: "Shall We then treat those who submit as We treat the criminals? What is the matter with you? How do you make your judgment?" The prophethood of Muhammad (peace be upon him) abrogated previous laws, so whoever disbelieves in him has disbelieved in all messengers. It is impossible for God to equate the believer and the disbeliever or to love them equally.
