Is a person's reaching a stage where he extinguishes his anger with the remembrance of Allah and smiles in the face of the one who angered him, saying: "May Allah forgive you," considered attaining the highest degree of faith, or is faith limitless and infinite?

Whoever controls himself when angry has reached a high degree of faith, because Allah described the believers as those who forgive when they are angry. Allah the Almighty said: "And when they are angry, they forgive." However, it cannot be said that this person has reached the highest degrees of faith, because faith increases and decreases, and there is no evidence that the increase of faith stops at a certain limit. Rather, the more good deeds a servant performs, the more his faith increases, as Allah the Almighty said: "And when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith." Al-Sa'di mentioned that believers are of three ranks: the foremost [in good deeds], the moderate, and the wrongdoers, and all of them vary. The best of the Ummah used to check on their faith and ask Allah to increase it. Ibn Mas'ud and Ibn Umar used to ask Allah for an increase in faith.
