Is it obligatory to perform Ihram when entering Makkah to pray in the Grand Mosque after returning from a trip outside Jeddah?

If you wish to go to Makkah after returning from a journey, then either you enter it with the intention of performing Umrah (definition), in which case you must enter into Ihram (definition) from the Miqat (definition) designated for your direction, or you enter it solely for prayer without the intention of Umrah. In this latter case, Ihram is not obligatory for you; rather, it is recommended that you perform much circumambulation (Tawaf (definition)) and prayer, because Ihram is specifically for those who intend to perform Hajj or Umrah.
