Is working in a hotel that serves alcohol, where the employee serves very little alcohol, permissible or forbidden?
Serving alcohol is forbidden at all times and in any quantity. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed ten categories of people associated with alcohol. Working in a hotel as a receptionist is permissible in principle, but it becomes forbidden if it involves serving alcohol or any other forbidden act. If the employee refrains from such acts, there is no harm upon him. Nevertheless, it is advisable to seek another job, as such places are often filled with corruption and abominations. A small amount of permissible earnings is better than that which is doubtful, and whoever abandons something for the sake of Allah, Allah will compensate him with something better.
