Date palm juice is pure as long as it has not reached the point of intoxication. If it becomes intoxicating, then it is impure, and every intoxicant is unlawful. What doctors use in surgical operations, if no other pure alternatives are available that can replace it, or if one has no choice but to use it, is considered under the category of necessities that permit prohibitions. A Muslim should purify the place that was affected by alcohol if he is able. Liquid intoxicants are considered wine and impure, and must be removed. As for those that are solid and not liquid, they are pure.
