The answer

The curtain remains in the mosque because its absence during the time of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was either due to a lack of need for it, given the strong faith of the Companions and their not being tempted by women, or due to their inability to provide it. The presence of the curtain today is more conducive to avoiding temptation, and whatever is further from temptation is more deserving. And whoever abstains from the congregational prayer due to the presence of the curtain is sinful, because its presence is not a sin.
