Is it obligatory to fast the ten days consecutively for one who is prevented (from completing Hajj or Umrah), and is he released from his state of Ihram by fasting them if he is able to return to Makkah or offer a sacrifice?

An entrapped pilgrim (muḥṣar) cannot be released by fasting unless he is unable to return to Mecca. If he is unable to come to Mecca, he becomes entrapped (muḥṣar) and is released by sacrificing an animal, as Allah Almighty says: "And if you are prevented [from completing the pilgrimage], then [sacrifice] what can be obtained with ease of sacrificial animals." He does not resort to fasting unless he is unable to sacrifice an animal, in which case he fasts for ten days, and it is not required for them to be consecutive.
