Is a divorce pronounced by a husband claiming to suffer from paranoid schizophrenia, based on a remote diagnosis by a psychologist, valid, especially since the divorce occurred during the wife's menstrual period?

First: Divorce is not valid from a sick person whose illness affects their mind, because one of the conditions for divorce is that it must be issued by a sane, mature, non-coerced individual.

Second: The acceptance of a specialist's testimony who has not seen the patient is up to the specialists themselves. If they can ascertain the illness with certainty or strong probability from an accurate description of their condition, then their testimony is acceptable; otherwise, it is not.

Third: Assuming the divorce occurred, it counts as a single divorce. If it was the first or second divorce and the waiting period has ended, he can return to you with a new contract.

Fourth: It is advisable to seek the help of good people to persuade the husband to see a doctor and a ruqya practitioner. What has afflicted him might be an illness, jinn possession, or magic. Many healers report that those possessed or enchanted flee from ruqya. It is possible to recite the legal ruqya over water and give it to him without his knowledge.

Fifth: It is advisable to turn to Allah Almighty and ask Him to relieve distress and facilitate good.
