Is the divorce of a person afflicted with paranoid schizophrenia valid, and what are its Shar'i rulings?

The occurrence of divorce hinges on the husband uttering it while being aware of what he is saying and not being overwhelmed or incapacitated in his thoughts. If he pronounces divorce while not understanding what he is saying, or if he is overwhelmed, then nothing is binding upon him. However, if he is aware of what he is saying and not overwhelmed in his will, then his divorce is effective. The consequences of his divorce are the same as the consequences of anyone else's divorce in terms of rulings.
