Does playing Quranic tapes in the home prevent certain things, and what are these things, and is it better than reading the Quran?

Reciting the Holy Quran is better than listening to it from a radio or a tape, due to the Prophet's (PBUH) saying: "Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah will receive a good deed, and a good deed is multiplied tenfold." However, if that is not possible, we hope that the objective will be achieved by listening to it, due to his (PBUH) saying: "Do not turn your homes into graves, for indeed Satan flees from the house in which Surat Al-Baqarah is recited." So, recitation from a tape is considered recitation.
