What is the ruling on purchasing gold through an Islamic loan from an Islamic bank to complete marriage necessities?
If the questioner, by borrowing from the Islamic bank, intends to enter into a Murabaha transaction with it to obtain cash for marriage expenses, then the commodity is considered:
- If it is gold: It is not permissible to sell it in installments.
- If it is a commodity for which immediate possession is not a condition, such as real estate, cars, and metals other than gold and silver: There is no objection to Murabaha, provided it adheres to Sharia controls. There is no harm if the questioner intends through it to obtain cash for his needs, which is known as the issue of Tawarruq.
