What is the ruling on naming a baby girl "Walah"?

We do not know of any religious impediment to naming with "Walah," but the Shari'ah encourages choosing good names. "Al-Walah" in the Arabic language denotes grief, loss of reason, and intense sorrow over the loss of a child. Therefore, it is preferable to choose good names, such as the names of female Companions and women of the Salaf, and to abandon this name, which signifies sorrow.
