Did Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) go beyond Sidrat al-Muntaha on the journey of Al-Mi'raj, while Jibreel (peace be upon him) did not exceed it because he was unable to do so, and what is the authenticity of Jibreel's saying to the Prophet: "O Muhammad, you advance, for if I advance, I would burn"?

First: There is no authentic report proving Jibreel's departure from the Prophet (peace be upon him) at the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary. A weak report from Ibn 'Abbas regarding this has been narrated.

Second: The circulated report about Jibreel saying he would burn if he approached the light of Allah is not authentic; it is mursal (lacking a Companion in the chain) and weak in its chain of narration, and it has no connection to the incident of the Mi'raj.
