It is recommended to maintain kinship ties, visit relatives, forgive them, and respond to ill-treatment with kindness, as Allah Almighty says: "Repel [evil] with that which is better, and thereupon the one whom between you and him is enmity will become as though he was a devoted friend." The one who maintains ties is not he who reciprocates, but he who connects with his relatives when they sever ties. It is not permissible to obey children in severing kinship ties, and the right of inheritance is an obligation from Allah that must not be violated.
