Is money collected for a deceased colleague considered Sadaqah Jariyah (ongoing charity) from which the deceased can benefit and which accrues to him, as stated in the words of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him): "When a person dies, all his deeds come to an end except for three..."?

Scholars unanimously agree on theumption that the deceased benefits from charity given on their behalf, whether it is an ongoing charity (ṣadaqah jāriyah) like building a mosque, or a non-ongoing charity like giving to a poor person. This is supported by the hadith: "Will she have a reward if I give charity on her behalf? He said: Yes." And the hadith of Sa'd ibn 'Ubada: "Indeed, my mother has died, should I give charity on her behalf? He said: Yes." Charity is among the deeds whose reward reaches the deceased, and there is a consensus on this. And the one who gives charity receives a reward similar to that of the one on whose behalf charity was given.
